## Abstract

Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping employment by automating routine tasks, augmenting human capabilities and creating demand for emerging skills and occupations. While AI offers opportunities to improve productivity, support innovation and develop new business activities, it also raises concerns regarding job displacement, skill gaps, and employment inequality and job quality. This paper examines the relationship between AI and employment in business through secondary data and a critical review of institutional research. The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that one in four workers worldwide is employed in an occupation with some exposure to generative AI, although job transformation is considered more likely than complete replacement. The World Economic Forum (WEF) projects that AI and information-processing technologies could create 11 million jobs and displace 9 million by 2030. These projections highlight the simultaneous potential for employment creation and disruption. The paper analyses the implications for business functions, workforce skills and Indian enterprises. It argues that the employment impact of AI depends on how organisations integrate technology, redesign jobs and invest in human capital. The study recommends responsible AI adoption, continuous reskilling and stronger collaboration between businesses, educational institutions and policymakers to promote inclusive employment. Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, Employment, Job Displacement, Job Creation, Automation, Reskilling, Future of Work, Indian Business.
